How to use Tamil keyboard?

  1. Download and install Tamil font by visiting our fonts page.
  2. Download Tamil keyboard from this page by following steps below:
    1. Click on the keyboard image you want to download.
    2. Right click on the image.
    3. Click on “Save image as ... “ option from the dropdown menu.
  3. Open text editor such as word document and select the fonts you have installed earlier.
  4. Open the Tamil keyboard image and use it as a reference to type Tamil on the word document.

If you don’t have big or multiple screen, we recommend printing the keyboard and use it as a reference for typing Tamil. All our keyboard are of high quality.

How can I get Tamil keyboard in different font mapping?

Above keyboard use Tamil font mapping. If you require Tamil keyboard in other fonts mapping (For E.g. Latha Regular Unicode Font), then we can do it for a small fee. Please drop a message on our Facebook page.


How can I use Tamil keyboard in WhatsApp on Mobile Devices?

To configure your keyboard in Tamil, follow the steps below:

  1. Open your phone's "Settings" app.

  2. Go to Languages & input.

  3. Under "Keyboard and Input" methods, select Tamil keyboard as your choice.


What are other alternatives of typing in Tamil?

Typing Tamil using keyboard can be hard as you have to memorize all the fonts mapping and you need lots of practise to be fluent.

It is even worse on mobile device as you cannot install specific font and also there are no keyboard with any other font mappings.

Thankfully, there are other easier ways of typing Tamil.

    For E.g if you type "Nan tamilil tattaccu ceyvatai virumpukiren" it will be transliterated into "நான் தமிழில் தட்டச்சு செய்வதை விரும்புகிறேன்".

    So, typing Tamil is as natural as you spell it in English. With this you don’t need to remember font layout or practice Tamil typing for several weeks. Just ensure the browser supports unicode. After typing, you can copy and paste the text anywhere - including, GMail, Facebook, Twitter and Word documents.

  2. If you prefer translation you can easily translate any English word, sentence or phrase into Tamil by visiting English to Tamil translation page.
