We have five different Tamil keyboard layouts for you to download on your computer. Once downloaded - you can use it as a reference to type in Tamil either on Word document or any other text editor. You also need to download the matching Tamil fonts.

To configure your keyboard in Tamil, follow the steps below:
Open your phone's "Settings" app.
Go to Languages & input.
Under "Keyboard and Input" methods, select Tamil keyboard as your choice.
Typing Tamil using keyboard can be hard as you have to memorize all the fonts mapping and you need lots of practise to be fluent.
It is even worse on mobile device as you cannot install specific font and also there are no keyboard with any other font mappings.
Thankfully, there are other easier ways of typing Tamil.
We recommend English to Tamil Typing.
On this website you can easily type in Tamil using Roman (English) keyboard layout.
For E.g if you type "Nan tamilil tattaccu ceyvatai virumpukiren" it will be transliterated into "நான் தமிழில் தட்டச்சு செய்வதை விரும்புகிறேன்".
So, typing Tamil is as natural as you spell it in English. With this you don’t need to remember font layout or practice Tamil typing for several weeks. Just ensure the browser supports unicode. After typing, you can copy and paste the text anywhere - including, GMail, Facebook, Twitter and Word documents.
